The genus Schismatoglottis consistes of 181 species. The distribution is in the whole Malesian area and Southeast China.
S. barbata is a rheophyte. Also Schismatoglottis homalomenoides is a rheophyte. This species is also considered as the only species in the genus Colobogonium: C. variegatum.
